Whilst I was on holiday in France this year (Aux Volets Bleus, a wonderful gite in the Dordogne region that I would totally recommend), EFX announced the release of a signature edition of their Precision Cast Millennium Falcon replica. This edition is limited to a really small run of only 25 pieces and was priced at $3, 000.
I pre-ordered the regular edition some time ago and after what can only be described as a heroic wait, it arrived earlier this year. Whilst it is not without its faults, (specifically the sidewalls and prominent join gap on the mandibles), I think it’s a really great model and enjoy it very much. I have it on display in my living room next to my Code 3 version.
It will feature the signatures of Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Billy Dee William (Lando Calrissian) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), which will be showcased on a special brushed aluminium base.
As you would expect, the guys on the Rebelscum forums gave it a little bit of hell, but as a Millennium Falcon collector I had to get one. It actually sold out in 10 hours, so naysayers be damned.
It’s due to ship in December 2018, but I suspect that some sort of wait may be in order. 🙂
Standby for photos on arrival.
Today, (on Star Wars day, no less), I finally received my SE model. With the sad passing of Peter Mayhew last year, EFX decided to leave his space blank rather than having a computer generated signature on his part. Those who bought one still paid full price, but I think that this is quite a respectful gesture.
Mine is number 25 of 25.
The engraving on my edition number wasn’t completed. You can make it out, but when you spend $3k for something, details like this shouldn’t be missed. Still, it is a small complaint in the grand scheme of things.
