We’ve seen that the Japanese have a love for the Falcon in the form of the extremely talented Tsuneo Tsanda and Noryoshi Orai, but it would appear that the Japanese also like to see the Millennium Falcon quite prominently on their book cover art too. There’s a great two piece article on Star Wars.com about the different Japanese covers (click here for part 1 and here for part 2). I need to try to track these down as some of the artwork is quite spectacular. (There’s also an entry in the Wookiepedia that’s quite useful.)
This one’s my personal favourite. 🙂
I’m not too sure (and i’m hoping that icruise can confirm) but i think that these two are alternativers for James Luceno’s Millennium Falcon novel.
There are a couple of nice Jabba ones too. 🙂 icruise has quite an impressive involvement in Japanese culture, i wonder if he know’s of any online Japanese book sellers where i might be able to purchase these?
22/08/11: I shouldn’t have but i’ve just ordered the two cover variations for the “Millennium Falcon” on Amazon.co.jp for £24 (Plus £37 postage). I had a little trouble negotiating the site due to the the Japanese language and had to use the translator option. I love the way that they listed the author as James Rucino. Now, am i racist for laughing, or are they racist for typing it in the first place? 🙂
These just came. Check out the gallery:

Much nicer than I had hoped. I was hesitant when I saw how small the package was, but they were well protected, and they are very nice volumes.
Not just a translation from the English, but an all-new publication. Well done.
Nice. Very nice.
I’m still waiting on mine from Amazon. I’m not hopeful. 😦
Are you worried you might have messed up your order in trying to navigate the site?
Is there a tracking number?
I have had tons of success with translate.google.com in understanding Japanese pages. You can paste in huge amounts of text, or just have it translate the entire site with all links and fields active, just with the text in Engrish.
Yeah, i keep getting mails from Amazon Japan. I’ll use the Google Translate and see what’s what.
Well, I sure hope it comes through for you. NOW, I think I have every version of this that’s been published. I think.
I’ve got:
Hardcover
Book Club Hardcover
Paperback
Audiobook
Japanese Two-Volume Set
Are there ANY others ?!?!?
We shall see. I’d be interested if there were other variations out there.
