1977 Han and Chewie poster

I came across this great looking vintage poster while trying to find the Andy Helms posters on ebay. It only had an hour to go, so I thought I’d put in a cheeky bid.

It is mainly Han and Chewie, but the Falcon’s still there. Dated from 1977 it was apparently released as part of a promotion between Coca Cola and Burger Chef and at 24″ by 18″, it’s a nice size too.

I really like this picture and it reminds me very much of the covers to the Han Solo and Lando Calrissian books that were released after The Empire Strikes Back. I wonder who the artist is?

I lost the bid in the end. WOW, those countdown things are tense. 🙂

21/08/11: I’m rather glad to say that i found a second one (also listed as new) and that i put in a winning bid. 🙂

  1. These come around fairly often on eBay. Make sure to save a search and then you can get updates whenever a match comes around. Look carefully for the condition, as many of them are in pretty bad shape.

Wonderful art! The whole series is beautiful.

Unless they are signed by the artist (I don’t know so I don’t have one to look at), you may never know who did the art. It’s so early in the history of Star Wars, even Lucasfilm would probably have to dig deep to find out who was contracted to do this.
