Mortarheads.com

iruise posted this link on his blog for a company that make Star Wars figurines or faces out of mortar. I have sent them an e/mail to see if they’re interested in making a Millennium Falcon one for me. They’re rather nice and unique. We shall wait and see. 🙂

Even if they can’t do a Falcon, they do a Chewie, so maybe a nice Han one wouldn’t be too hard. Or even Lando and Nien Numb?

Update 05/09/10: I got a reply back, he’s quite happy to do a Falcon. I’m trying to see if he’d be able to do a top or side view of the Falcon. (I think a top view would look better on the wall though.) They’re generally 16″ by 16″ and are about $40 each, which is pretty decent in my opinion.

Update 12/09/10: Mike Demaine and i are going to get one of these each as they’re a pretty unique item. Hopefully they’ll be able to reproduce this look:

31/05/11: I received this link showing the progress so far on this and i have to say that i’m pretty impressed. 🙂

14/07/11: Another message received from Mark at Mortarheads and another photo showing the nearly finished sculpt. I have to say that they have turned out to be pretty impressive. 🙂

05/08/11: Well it came today and boy, are these things are heavy. It’s pretty nice and for the price, there’s quite a lot of work that’s gone into it.

The back of the sculpt is quite nice too. Now, how do i display something like this? It’s quite flat, so i might look into seeing if i can get it mounted for a wall hanging.
